A full day of programmed events for visitors to find out more about how our organisation works, and our plans for the future, including
- Behind-the-scenes tours
- BPMA annual report
- Friends of the BPMA AGM
- Presentations from BPMA staff
- A chance for visitors to put forward ideas and ask questions about the BPMA
- Afternoon talk (subject to be announced, so watch this space!)
In addition to searchroom and repository tours, there will be a rare opportunity to view the BPMA conservation studio and our philatelic vault. Conservators Krystina Koscia and Jackie Coppen, and Curator of Philately Douglas Muir will provide an insight into their work on the BPMA collections.
As a thank you for the continuing support of our visitors, we will provide lunch and tea and coffee, free of charge. Book for the whole day, or just for individual sessions.
The day will end with a screening of the film Mail Rail (1987), and a talk, Mail Rail: An Underground Postal Journey. Please specify that you wish to stay for the evening film screening and talk when booking for the Open Day.
