Exhibitions available to other venues

The BPMA have a growing number of exhibitions that are available to other venues for free, although transport and insurance costs will need to be covered.  For further information on any of these exhibitions please email sue.barnard@postalheritage.org.uk.

Brunel Speeding the Mail is available to other venues from 25 November 2006 (see online version of the exhibition).

This is a graphic exhibition that looks at the work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel through stamp artwork commissioned by Royal Mail since 1969.

The exhibition consists of display panels only.  There are 6 panels (2000mm x 1000mm) which need to be constructed in a line to form a structure.  Full instructions on how to assemble the exhibition are available.

Notes: The panels are heavy and will not fit in a normal size transit van.

Moving the Mail: Horses to Horsepower is available from November 2007 (see online version of the exhibition).

This exhibition charts the fascinating history of road transport in the postal service.  The full  exhibition consists of 12 exhibition panels and 13 rarely-seen vehicles from the BPMA collection. 

Each panel highlights different areas of postal transport history from 'Postboys and Mailcoaches' to 'Modern Fleet'. Vehicles range from a fiery red BSA Bantam motorbike to a newly renovated mobile post office, a postbus, mailcoach and various vehicles manufactured by Morris and Daimler.

Films developed especially for the exhibition are also available. The films chart the history of postal road transport with both vintage Pathé material and more recent footage of vehicles in action.

Size needed: 300sqm (maximum) Size is flexible however as elements of the exhibition can be shown in their own right.

Transport responsibility: Venue. Vehicles will need to be transported on a low-loader.
Notes: If all vehicles are requested there must be adequate environmental conditions. If all panels & vehicles are requested installation takes 3 days minimum. Exhibition panels are mounted on to Foamex & sealed but freestanding velcro panels are required for mounting.
